Speedy Start

It seemed at first the whole competition would be a bust and only about two classes would really compete. To my surprise though me and my partners Erix and Luis hadn't even finished presenting when people were ready with bottles to put in their bins. Kids were even telling stories of all the bottles they had at home they would bring. The excitement was evidently there and it wasn't only one class it was in all of them; even the teachers had an air of excitement about them this competition seemed to be starting off quite incredibly. Now lets just see how it turns out in the end.

Initial Experience

My experiences thus far have been absolutely eye-opening. I have seen people really take this recycling campaign seriously, and competitively. I witnessed one student going down to a harbor nearby and collecting bottles in a trash bag. Now if that is not initiative then I don't know what is. I am proud that we are so early on into this campaign and people are seriously attempting to make an effort to win the recycling contest whilst making the world a better, cleaner place while leading by example.

Welcome to Eastie Science Rules!

East Boston High School students have been doing amazing scientific work while also contributing to their community and the world at large.  We are excited to share this work with you! We hope you will enjoy reading about our past successes and following us as we continue to our scientific and service learning journey!

One of our main concerns is the environment, especially as it relates to the local community.  We have been working with Mario Umana Academy 6th graders running a plastic water bottle recycling campaign in their school and have recently started our own plastic recycling campaign in the high school.  We look forward to telling you about this work and many other science-related projects in the days, months, and years to come!
